Forced Beauty by T.I.T.S. was inspired by the (re)presentation of violence in our daily life while exploring power structures and forceful tendencies in relationships while questioning the representation of women and femininity on stage. T.I.T.S. aim to confront our fascination for violence with research on mirror neurons in the human brain that is closely linked with the audience’s ability for physical empathy.
T.I.T.S uses inspiration from the everyday hateful tirades towards women and the malice in blogs and posts on the Internet which became a fundamental communicative situation in social media. The text of the dialogue is based on internet hate comments towards woman and freely available descriptions of real homicides. The performance is visually strong and at times provocative and dissects, on one hand, the archaic seeming trials of strength between humans and, on the other hand, the exploding phenomena of unrestrained expressions of violence.
